Producer respects for Shakeela!

B-town producer Ekta Kapoor is a different personality. She concentrates upon off beat subjects or forgotten stars like Silk Smitha. Presently Ekta is draining her efforts on ‘Dirty Picture’ with Vidya Balan, a film on Silk Smitha. Talking to media, Ekta revealed the date of release of ‘Dirty Picture.’

‘It will open on December 2 which happens to be Silk Smitha birthday. It is a beautiful coincidence since she is one of our muses along with other Southern actors like Shakeela or Nylon Nandini or Polyester Padmini. My film is a reflection of an era when these ladies used their sexuality to carve a niche for themselves in male dominated South film industry. Many scowled upon them but they were survivors. Their power on masses is undefined. We must respect them for that,’ she said. Well, this is another face of Hindi cinema which survives mostly on talented South.
