Film Dialogue writer Gandham Nagaraju (42), who shot to fame with the dialogues he had penned for the cult hit ‘Gamyam’, died of liver ailment on Wednesday morning at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in the city.
Nagaraju was born and brought up in Narasaraopet and his father Gandham Yagnavalkya Sarma was also a famous writer.
Nagaraju started his career as a playwright and wrote the play ‘President Perayya’ which was a big hit. He continued on to write plays, prizewinning stories and novels.
One of his plays based on his real-life experiences as the Principal-in-charge at a college in Khammam led to the point where director Krish approached him for Gamyam.
Gandham Nagaraju's thought-provoking dialogues with a touch of wit won him recognition and fame. He wrote for films like Baanam, Inko Saari, Betting Bangarraju, and Gaaayam-2.
He also co-authored the script of Sontha Ooru, another award-winning movie.
His novel “Sthitapraj na pasi Di lanka” won a prize in Swathi and then it was made into serials in Swathi.
