Eminent poet and lyricist C Narayana Reddy (CiNaRe) has been named the recipient of the prestigious NTR National Film Award by the state government for the year 2009.
The award will be presented to him at a function to be organised at Ravindra Bharathi in the city on May 28.
The award was instituted in 1996 by N Chandrababu Naidu, the then chief minister, in memory of the legendary actor and former chief minister NT Rama Rao, who ruled the Telugu film industry for nearly five decades.
Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee Akkineni Nageswara Rao was the first recipient of the Award. The award constitutes a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, a citation, a shawl and a specially-crafted silver memento.
Meanwhile, Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Tuesday called on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office and invited him to a programme to be conducted at Nandamuri Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Banjara Hills in the city.
He also invited the Chief Minister to participate in the award ceremony of NTR National Film Awards at Ravindra Bharathi on May 28.
