Paramount Completes Warner Bros Takeover Creates Skydance

Hollywood has entered a new era after Skydance owned Paramount completed its $81 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6. Including Warner’s debt, the transaction is valued at nearly $111 billion, bringing two historic studios together under one entertainment company called Skydance.
The merger creates a huge content empire spanning Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., along with HBO, CBS, CNN, Paramount+ and HBO Max. Major franchises including Harry Potter, Top Gun and The Godfather now sit within the same corporate group, giving Skydance an enormous global entertainment library.
David Ellison will serve as chairman and CEO of Skydance, with former Mattel chief Ynon Kreiz becoming co CEO. The company expects the combined business to generate around $70 billion in revenue and is targeting at least $6 billion in annual synergies within three years.
The deal followed months of intense negotiations, including a bidding battle with Netflix, regulatory scrutiny and legal challenges. Skydance has also committed to producing at least 30 theatrical films and more than 180 television shows and series annually, setting an ambitious course for the newly combined Hollywood giant.
