Hyderabad 12 Years Wait For IMAX Ends With Dune Three

Hyderabad’s long wait for an IMAX experience is reportedly nearing its end, with AMB Classic Victory at RTC X Roads expected to introduce the format in December 2026. The development could mark a significant upgrade to the city’s premium cinema landscape, which has lacked a dedicated IMAX screen since the earlier Prasads IMAX format ended in 2014.

The upcoming IMAX screen is reportedly being developed by Asian Cinemas, which has been expanding its premium exhibition footprint across Hyderabad. If the December launch proceeds as planned, audiences will once again be able to experience major Hollywood and Indian spectacles on a large format screen with enhanced sound and presentation, bringing a globally recognised cinema format back to the city.

Dune: Part Three is reportedly positioned as the opening attraction for the new IMAX screen. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Florence Pugh, the film is scheduled for worldwide release on December 18, 2026. Its large scale visuals and sequences filmed specifically for IMAX make it a natural choice for the launch.

However, Hyderabad moviegoers are also eagerly looking toward SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. With its ambitious scale and reported international appeal, the prospect of experiencing Varanasi on Hyderabad’s new IMAX screen has already generated considerable excitement. The development could further strengthen the city’s premium cinema culture.
