Shiva Nirvana Responds To Teachers Objections In Irumudi Controversy

Ravi Teja’s Irumudi, directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, has become a major box office success while also facing criticism over its government school scenes. Teacher organisations objected to the portrayal of educators, uniforms and a school setting, arguing that these visuals could create a negative impression.

The controversy gained attention after the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation demanded changes to scenes featuring a negatively portrayed teacher. Representatives also raised concerns that an identifiable government school and official student uniforms were shown. The issue was subsequently taken to authorities, adding another layer of discussion around the film’s portrayal.

Responding to the criticism, Shiva Nirvana explained that he never intended to disrespect government schools or teachers. He recalled meeting a government teacher in Tirupati who questioned the school sequences. The director said he reminded her about the film’s positive teacher character, created to highlight genuine dedication, compassion and care.

Shiva Nirvana further clarified that the story focuses on individual behaviour rather than condemning an entire profession or education system. He acknowledged that some viewers may have missed certain narrative details while watching. This clarification comes amid Irumudi’s commercial run, with reports confirming it has crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide.
