Hindu Makkal Katchi (Hindu People’s Party) of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday strongly objected to the proposed portrayal of ‘Seeta’ in actor Nandamuri Balakrishna's forthcoming Telugu film ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’ by actress Nayantara.
The film was launched on Monday at Ramakrishna Studios, Nacharam in the city with much fanfare.
In a statement issued to media, HMK stated that the epic ‘Ramayana’ is a book of morals and Seeta is seen as an embodiment of virtues life.
The HMK argued out that Nayanatara, who is alleged to be involved in a love affair with choreographer-director Prabhu Deva, a married man, has no moral right to portray Seeta in the movie.
HMK secretary Kannan alleged that Nayantara has tried to steal another woman’s husband in real life. So she has no moral right to play Seeta.
Earlier, the HMK, a pro-Hindu organisation, has often raised its voice against the alleged violation of Hindu ethos.
It had protested against Shriya Saran and Mallika Sherawat for attending public functions in short dresses.
Actress Khushboo has been criticized by the organization for her controversial statements on virginity.
It recently campaigned against actor Asin, Vivek Oberoi and Suriya for touring Sri Lanka for shooting of a film.
What the HMK conveniently forgot is that if Nayantara is not seen as eligible to play the role of 'Seeta' for running behind Prabhu Deva, then going by the same standards, Balakrishna is not suited to portray Rama as he was linked with actress Naghma in the past. Balayya`s wife struggled enough to get back her husband.
