Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is set to start shooting for the highly anticipated sequel Kalki 2 in May, according to a report by Mid-Day. The film, which is a sequel to the 2024 dystopian science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD, boasts an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone. A source revealed that Bachchan's screen time has been increased in the sequel, and the shooting is expected to continue until June 15.
The source further revealed that Bachchan will start preparing for his role as Ashwatthama at the end of March. The sequel will take forward the story of Ashwatthama and Bhairava/Karna (Prabhas) as they work together to rescue Sumathi's (Padukone) unborn child. The film promises to be grander than its predecessor, with Bachchan and Prabhas confronting the evil Supreme Commander, Yaskin (Haasan).
The sequel will introduce new elements, including a fourth world called Flux Lands and a tribe named the Nomens. The film will also feature more action sequences, with Bachchan performing complex stunts with weapons. A 30-day filming leg was completed last year, but many action portions still need to be shot. The film's director, Nag Ashwin, has created a massive set on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where the remaining scenes will be shot.
With its ensemble cast, grand storyline, and impressive action sequences, Kalki 2 promises to be a blockbuster hit. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Bachchan, Prabhas, Haasan, and Padukone come together on the big screen. The film's release is highly anticipated. Considering Prabhas's multiple projects, Kalki Sequel will take its time to complete.
