Nagarjuna and Dhanush Kubera Movie Title Controversy

The upcoming film Kubera directed by Sekhar Kammula and starring Nagarjuna and Dhanush in the lead roles has been embroiled in a controversy over its title. Recently a producer and director held a press meet at the Hyderabad Press Club claiming that the title Kubera is theirs and that Sekhar Kammula use of the title will cause them significant losses. The producer Karimakonda Narender stated that he had registered the title Kubera with the Telugu Film Producers Council in November 2023 and had already completed 90 percent of the shooting for his own film with the same title.

According to Karimakonda Narender Sekhar Kammula use of the title Kubera despite knowing that it was already registered is a clear infringement of his rights. Narender demanded that the title be changed or that he be compensated for the losses he will incur. The producer lawyer Rajesh also participated in the press meet emphasizing the gravity of the situation. It remains to be seen how Sekhar Kammula and the film unit will respond to these allegations.

Interestingly the posters for Nagarjuna and Dhanush film feature the title Sekhar Kammula Kubera suggesting that the director may have anticipated the controversy and added his name to the title to differentiate it from the other film. However this move may not be enough to placate Karimakonda Narender who is adamant that he will take action to protect his rights.

As the controversy surrounding the title of Kubera continues to unfold the future of the film remains uncertain. Will Sekhar Kammula and the film unit be able to resolve the issue amicably or will the matter end up in court Only time will tell but one thing is certain the Kubera title controversy has cast a shadow over the film release.
