Tamannaah Bhatia has been working hard to shed her glamorous image and take on more women centric roles. Her latest endeavor is Odela 2 where she plays a Naga Sadhvi. The movie teaser was recently released on a boat in the river Ganga during the Maha Kumbh Mela and while it clear that Tamannaah is trying something new the film itself seems to be treading familiar ground. The teaser hints at a story that a mix of Ammoru Arundhati and Akhanda with Tamannaah playing a character similar to NBK in Akhanda.
While the promotions for Odela 2 have been grand and unique the story itself needs a fresh approach to stand out. Unfortunately the film seems to be relying on a familiar Good vs Evil storyline with a leading lady taking on a powerful Goddess role. The visuals and VFX work are also below par which may detract from the overall viewing experience. However the background score by Ajaneesh Loknath does elevate the setup offering some hope that the film may still have some surprises in store.
Tamannaah Bhatia performance in Odela 2 may be the film saving grace. She has been working hard to take on more challenging roles and her dedication to her craft is evident in the teaser. However it remains to be seen whether her performance will be enough to carry the film to success.
Ultimately Odela 2 success will depend on its ability to offer something new and exciting to audiences. While the film promotions have been impressive the storyline and visuals will need to deliver on their promise to keep viewers engaged. With Tamannaah Bhatia at the helm there is hope that the film may still surprise audiences and prove to be a worth while watch.
