Dhanraj who made an impression with his performances is coming with the film titled Ramam Raghavam. With Samuthirakhani playing a key role and Dhanraj helming the project, interest levels increased. Let us see what the film which is releasing on 21 February offered to movie lovers.
Ramam Raghavam story revolves around the relationship between father and son and the starting developments involving both of them.
Dasaratha Ramam (Samuthirakhani) , a honest government employee raises his son Raghav (Dhanraj) and aspires him to become a doctor. However, Raghav couldn't excel in studies and remains unsettled in life.
This strains the relationship between Ramam and Raghav and where this leads to and what role Raghav's mother Kamala (Pramodini), his friend Anji (Sathya), Varsha(Mokksha), Naidu (Sunil), lorry driver Deva (Harish Utthaman), Kasi (Prudhvi) form the interesting part of the narration.
Dhanraj performed well in his role. He showed variations elevating the scenes showing the negative shades. He delivered dialogues with intensity and emoted well.
Samuthirakhani as usual made his presence felt bringing all his experience and powering the emotional scenes in a subtle manner.
Mokksha got a limited role and Prudhvi, Sunil made their presence felt. Pramodini played the role of a typical mother who loves her son a lot.
Satya played the role of a friend and did justice to his role. Harish Utthaman is good in the role of the lorry driver and showed the intensity on the screen.
Ramam Raghavam story penned by Dhanraj is inspired by real life incidents. The story is simple and Dhanraj added couple of twists to increase interest levels.
He started the narration highlighting the father's love and bonding towards his son. The entire first half shows father's concern for his son who struggles to come up in life.
The first half ends with an interesting twist leading to the second half. The second half is loaded with intense emotions of father and son's hatred towards him. These scenes at times turn repetitive and slowed the pace of the film.
Finally the film ends on a predictable note. Dhanraj's screenplay is slow and direction is ok. Racy screenplay and few more twists would have helped the film.
Arun Chiluveru's songs are ok but he elevated the scenes with his background music. Marthand K Venkatesh's editing could have been better as there are many scenes that dragged the pace of the narration. Dialogues are interesting at times and production values are good.
Altogether Ramam Raghavam is predictable story with one or two twists. Samuthirakhani and Dhanraj did justice to their roles but the director in Dhanraj came up with a simple story. A little fine-tuning of script and racy screenplay and couple of twists would have helped the film. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Ramam Raghavam.
