Kangana Ranaut's highly anticipated film "Emergency" finally has a release date of January 17, 2025, after months of delays and controversies. The film, directed and produced by Ranaut, is a biographical political thriller that explores the life of Indira Gandhi during the 21-month Emergency rule period from 1975 to 1977. This period is considered one of the most tumultuous chapters in India's history.

Ranaut took to Instagram to share the news, calling the movie an "epic saga" of India's most powerful woman and the pivotal moment that altered the nation's destiny. The film features a stellar cast, including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Shreyas Talpade. Shreyas Talpade portrays Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Anupam Kher plays Jayaprakash Narayan.

The film's release was initially set for October or November 2023 but was rescheduled to June 14, 2024, and then again to September 6, 2024, due to the Lok Sabha elections. However, it faced further delays due to certification issues and backlash from various political groups. Kangana expressed frustration over the delays, revealing the financial strain caused by the postponed release.

The film has generated significant interest, with its promotional items receiving immense praise. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently cleared the film, and its runtime has been shortened from 147 minutes to 146 minutes.
