Director Venu Sriram's 2017 film, Middle Class Abbayi (MCA), starring Nani and Sai Pallavi, was a commercial success despite receiving mixed reviews. Currently, Venu Sriram is working on 'Thammudu' with Nithin, produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Rumors have been circulating in Tollywood that 'Thammudu' is a sequel to 'MCA', with a linked storyline and characters. However, the film unit has denied these claims, labeling them as "fake news." Venu Sriram assures that 'Thammudu' is an original story with no connection to 'MCA'.
