Disha Patani's father, retired Deputy SP Jagdish Singh Patani, has been defrauded of Rs 25 lakh (approximately $300,000 USD) in a government job scam, according to a report by PTI. Five individuals allegedly promised him a high-ranking government position in exchange for the money.

The scam involved a group of five: Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash (from Juna Akhara), Preeti Garg, and one unidentified person. Patani knew Shivendra Pratap Singh, who introduced him to the others. They allegedly presented an accomplice, Himanshu, as an "officer on special duty" to bolster their fraudulent claims of political influence.

Patani paid Rs 25 lakh – Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 20 lakh through bank transfers to three different accounts. After three months of inaction, he demanded a refund, only to face threats and aggressive behavior from the accused.

An FIR has been filed at the Bareilly Kotwali police station, charging the five individuals with cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion. Kotwali police station in-charge D K Sharma stated that efforts are underway to arrest the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
