Ramgopal Varma’s cruel instincts are clearly portrayed in ‘Raktha Charitra.’ It might be his inner love towards bloodshed and violence but ‘Raktha Charitra’ already had a decent run in Telugu version as audience were able to identify the characters of Prathap Ravi, Shivaji Rao and Bukka Reddy with real life personalities.

Same seems not to be happening with Hindi version and the main reason quoted by an analyst is lack of Bollywood’s knowledge on above three personalities. Although Ramu felt that this is more of an emotional and violent fighting between two families for their own self respect and political rights; clever Bollywood audience aren’t able to understand any of this Varma’s language even with UP and Bihar nativity filled into the movie.

On the other hand, North cinema lovers never experienced such cruelty on screen from the very birth of Bollywood and ‘Rakth Charitra’ has made them develop a feeling of Fear and Hatred towards South when they are slowly coming to know the reality aspect in this story. For good business better Varma say that, Hindi version is total reality while Telugu version is a mix of fiction with reality.
