It’s a very close battle between Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States and former President of Donald Trump in the 2024 Presidential election in the United States. Harris is the current Democratic incipient who is vying to be the first woman as well as the first of Indian origin to be accorded the mantle of President of the United States of America. 

Harris is a distant second with 112 votes trailed by Trump with 210 votes in place. Among the main strategies that surround Harris’ campaign, issues of unity and the rejection of division in politics are pinpointed out. She wants a new America for a new begining. Trump is telling the Americans that they should not allow the democrats to lead them in the future, instead he assures voters he will bring back economic booming again, and control immigration if given a chance to rule again.

Despite losing the popular vote by more than 2 percentage points and about 2.8 million votes to Clinton in 2016, Trump clinched 304 electoral votes to Clinton’s 227 to become the President of the United States. But, in the following years in the election of 2020 the democratic candidate Joe Biden outcompeted Trump obtaining 306 electoral votes against Trump’s 232 with a lead of over 700000 votes in the popular vote. Trump up to now refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of Biden’s victory, alleging vote rigging which led to protests from his supporters and the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol building. 

Harris presents herself as a unifying figure, strived to eliminate division, and wants a new approach for America. Trump speaks of a dangerous future with the Democrats and has trod hearth of economic revival coupled with a clampdown on immigration. This is being described as the most closely contested presidential election in the history of democracy with both candidates contesting the election virtually on equal footing right up to the last hours.
