Kalki 2898 AD, 35 to be screened at IFFI 2024. Indian Panorama at IFFI 2024: A Celebration of Indian Cinema with Telugu Representation.
The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to showcase the best of Indian Cinema at its 55th edition, with the Indian Panorama segment revealing a curated selection of 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films. The selection process, which saw 384 contemporary Indian films vying for a place, resulted in a diverse collection, including five mainstream cinema titles, two of which are Telugu films.
The Telugu film industry is proudly represented by the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and directed by Nag Ashwin, and 35-Chinna Katha Kaadu, featuring Nivetha Thomas and directed by Nanda Kishore Emani. This inclusion marks a significant moment for Telugu cinema, showcasing its vibrant storytelling and technical prowess on a global platform.
The selection process was undertaken by a 12-member jury, though the absence of any representation from Tollywood raises concerns about inclusivity and representation within the selection committee.
The opening film of the Indian Panorama 2024 will be Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (Hindi), directed by Randeep Hooda. Other notable films in the lineup include Article 370, Bramayugam, Level Cross, 12th Fail, and Manjummel Boys, promising a diverse and engaging cinematic experience.
Organized by the National Film Development Corporation, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of Goa, IFFI will take place from November 20 to 28, 2024, in Panaji, Goa. This celebration of Indian Cinema is not to be missed, showcasing the breadth and depth of storytelling that India has to offer.
