The excitement surrounding a possible reunion of Superstar Rajinikanth and maverick director Mani Ratnam has been quelled by Suhasini Mani Ratnam.

Recent reports suggested a collaboration was in the works, marking a long-awaited reunion after their iconic 1991 film "Thalapathi." However, Suhasini, speaking to scribes, laughingly dismissed the rumors, stating that even Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam themselves are unaware of any such project.

"No, I don't think even Rajinikanth and Mani know about it. It's only people who're writing about it," she said.

While fans were hopeful for a cinematic revival of the "Thalapathi" magic, it seems the wait for a Rajinikanth-Mani Ratnam collaboration will continue.

Rajinikanth is currently busy with Lokesh Kanagaraj's "Coolie," slated for release in 2025, while Mani Ratnam recently completed filming "Thug Life," starring Kamal Haasan, which is set for a summer 2025 release.
