Aamir Khan reveals the twist in Rang De Basanti.Aamir Khan, the powerhouse of Bollywood, recently shared a fascinating behind-the-scenes tidbit about the iconic film Rang De Basanti. While the movie is known for its powerful storyline and memorable songs, the original ending was drastically different.

In a candid conversation with Cinemaanreal, Aamir revealed that the initial script had a dramatic climax where the characters, inspired by Bhagat Singh, assassinated the Defence Minister and attempted a daring escape. However, Aamir, known for his meticulous approach to filmmaking, felt this ending was incongruous with the film's core message.

"The original climax had us killing the Defence Minister and then trying to escape. But it didn't feel right. Why would they run? Did they feel guilty?" questioned Aamir, highlighting the inconsistency in the narrative.

His logic resonated with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He understood that the characters, deeply inspired by Bhagat Singh's unwavering spirit, wouldn't simply flee after taking such a bold step.

Aamir then proposed a powerful alternative - a climax where the group seizes control of a TV studio to broadcast their message directly to the nation. This shift, echoing Bhagat Singh's revolutionary spirit of standing by one's convictions, resonated with both Aamir and Mehra.

"I took that idea and told Mehra I couldn't make the film with the original climax. But he loved it and we incorporated that scene into Rang De Basanti," shared Aamir.

The film, starring Aamir alongside Siddharth, R. Madhavan, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, and Alice Patten, became a blockbuster hit, winning the National Film Award for Best Popular Film and earning a BAFTA nomination. It's a testament to Aamir's commitment to storytelling and his belief in crafting endings that are true to the spirit of the narrative.
