Ravi Teja Bachchan fast disappearing from BO."Mr. Bachchan" Stumbles at the Box Office: Ravi Teja's Remake Fails to Impress.
Ravi Teja's much-anticipated film "Mr. Bachchan", a remake of the hit Hindi film "Raid", has reportedly received a lukewarm response at the box office in the Telugu states.
Despite the holiday season and initial hype, the film has managed to collect only a meager Rs 5 crore plus in net collections, a far cry from the expectations. Distributors are voicing concerns about the film's lackluster performance, attributing it to disappointing word-of-mouth publicity.
"Audiences aren't sharing exciting moments from the film, and this is negatively impacting footfalls," one distributor said.
Director Harris Shankar's attempt to reimagine the original film, adding more fight sequences and songs, has been met with mixed reactions. While the original "Raid" focused on a hard-hitting thematic narrative, "Mr. Bachchan" appears to have lost its edge, failing to resonate with audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Ravi Teja, who pinned his hopes on this remake, is likely to be disappointed with the current collections, which have been steadily declining since Friday. The film needs to collect an additional Rs 18 crore in the Telugu states to achieve a respectable run at the box office.
"Mr. Bachchan" faces an uphill battle to recover its losses. The film's underwhelming performance raises questions about the viability of remakes in the current market, particularly when they deviate significantly from the original source material.
