Riteish braces for Raja Shivaji. Riteish Deshmukh is set to bring the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the silver screen in his upcoming directorial project, 'Raja Shivaji.' The bilingual film, to be made in Marathi and Hindi, was announced by the actor on the auspicious occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, with an expected theatrical release in 2025.

Following the success of 'Ved,' Riteish Deshmukh is thrilled to announce 'Raja Shivaji,' where he will not only direct but also portray the iconic historical figure himself.

Expressing his excitement for the project, Riteish shared a post on social media, stating, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a name but an emotion. On the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary, I join you in paying homage to the great son of the soil. May his legacy continue to inspire us for generations to come. We seek your blessings as we begin our new journey. Jai Shivrai!!"

The film boasts the debut of renowned National Award-winning cinematographer Santosh Sivan in Marathi cinema and features a musical score by the talented duo Ajay-Atul. 'Raja Shivaji' aims to set new benchmarks, exploring the valiant spirit of Maharashtra’s greatest warrior - rebel king Shivaji Maharaj.

With shooting set to commence soon, the film is expected to hit screens in 2025. Genelia Deshmukh, Riteish's wife, has also joined the team as a producer.

Meanwhile, 'Ved' revolves around Shravani (Genelia Deshmukh), an Indian Railways employee married to her childhood crush, Satya (Riteish Deshmukh), a former aspiring cricketer and alcoholic, who still longs for his former girlfriend Nisha (Shankar).

Presented by Jio Studios, 'Raja Shivaji' is made under the banner of Mumbai Film Company, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, and produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh.
