Ilayaraja is first to achive this

‘Laya Raja’ Ilayaraja is the king of South Indian Music and Indian Government has given him the right recognition by opening their first ever National Film Award in Best Background Score category awarded to Ilayaraja.

The declared 57th National Film Award Winners list has the name of Maestro Ilayaraja in the category of Best Background score for his efforts in ‘Pazhassi Raja.’ Incidentally Ilayaraja is the first winner of Award in this category which has been introduced only this year.   

Well, great man and great achievement. Wish that Ilayaraja win many such awards in future.
