How Nani son Arjun reacted on Hi Nanna. The much-anticipated film of the year, "Hi Nanna," starring the charismatic Natural Star Nani alongside Mrunal Thakur, is gearing up for its release on December 7. Directed by debutant Shouryuv, the film has already stirred excitement with its positive teaser response from fans. In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Nani delved into the film, his experience working on a love story, and the adorable reaction of his son, Arjun.

Revealing the personal connection he felt with the film's theme, Nani shared, "I resonated with my character because I am a father of a 7-year-old son. But, I always wanted to have a daughter. Even before I got to know if it was a boy or girl, I was just hoping they'd tell me it was a girl. Also, when I heard this script, I loved it, and that longtime wish to be a dad to a girl came true through this film. So, this film is very special. Also, the little one who played my daughter Kiara in the film is so affectionate and loving. After shooting this film with her, I'm even more convinced that I am a girl's dad, and now the craving for a daughter has become a lot more."

Beyond being a father-daughter narrative, Nani emphasized that "Hi Nanna" is an emotional human drama with a primary focus on a love story. Reflecting on the shift in cinema trends, he expressed his hope that the film would bring back the energy of love stories on the big screen. Drawing on nostalgic memories, Nani shared, "In childhood, I used to go with my parents and friends to the theatre to watch these love stories. These blockbuster films - 'Nuvve Kavali,' 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hain' - were very simple films. The entire family goes to watch where they feel all kinds of emotions - they'll root for the characters and sing those songs. They'll come back home and they'll discuss those stories. I somehow feel in the last decade we are not really making films like that. So, I hope it will all come back with this film."

Addressing his son Arjun's innocent confusion about his role in the film, Nani shared, "We made a very cute announcement video for 'Hi Nanna,' and Arjun saw that video and asked me who's there in it. Then I said she's acting as my daughter (Kiara) in my film and then he said, 'she also calls you Nanna,' and I said, 'yeah,' and he said, but that is what I call you. Why is she calling you Nanna?' So, I had to explain that she is acting. To that, he just nodded, but I am not sure he understood completely."

Anticipating his son's future appreciation for his work, Nani added, "He will watch 'Hi Nanna,' and I think he will enjoy the song and dance portions. But, I don't know if he will get the depth of the story. In a couple of years from now, I'm definitely planning to sit with him and show him 'Jersey' and 'Hi Nanna,' when I am confident that he will understand the vibe of the film."

Directed by Shouryuv, featuring Nani, Mrunal Thakur, and Kiara in lead roles, with music by Hesham Abdul Wahab, "Hi Nanna" is poised to capture the hearts of audiences when it hits the screens on December 7.
