Rishabh Shetty produced Shivamma teaser released. The teaser for 'Shivamma' has been officially unveiled, a film directed by debutant Jaishankar Aryar. This teaser has received acclaim at international film festivals across the globe. In the previous year, it clinched the prestigious New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), sharing the honor with the Korean film 'A Wild Roomer.'
'Shivamma' is proudly produced by Rishab Shetty Films, a venture from Rishab Shetty's home banner. Rishab Shetty shared the teaser on social media, stating, "Here is the teaser of the most acclaimed Kannada film in international festivals."
The narrative of 'Shivamma' is centered on the life of a modest middle-aged woman who, working as a government school chef, transitions to becoming a sales representative for an energy drink company. Her motivation is to save for her daughter's wedding and provide for her husband, who has a disability. The film features Sharanamma Chetti and Chennamma Abbegere in the lead roles, with the entire movie being filmed in the Yarehanchinala village within the Kuknur taluk of the Koppal district. Remarkably, all the actors are local debutants from the same town.
Director Jaishankar revealed that his inspiration for the story came from observing a passionate salesperson visiting Rakshit Shetty’s office and two young boys on a train who were practicing their speaking skills after attending a multi-level marketing event. Jaishankar explained, 'The man who came to Rakshit’s office was explaining the features of his product with great enthusiasm but nobody there wanted it. As he was repacking his wares with a dejected look, I felt a surge of empathy for him. That emotion developed into Shivamma’s story.'
'Shivamma' also holds the distinction of being the first Kannada film to win an award at the Fajr Film Festival in Iran. The film is set to make its South Asian debut at the esteemed MAMI (Mumbai Film Festival) on Wednesday, further solidifying its position as an acclaimed international film.
