Kantara celebrations with Varaharoopam song. On September 30, 2022, Rishab Shetty released his much-anticipated film, "Kantara," exclusively in Kannada theaters. Marketed as an authentic 'mannina kathe,' the film initially catered to a local audience. However, it quickly transcended boundaries, captivating audiences far and wide. The overnight sensation prompted the film's team to rush dubbed versions into production in the following weeks, resulting in a staggering box office collection of over Rs 400 crore.

What truly enthralled movie-goers was the infusion of mythology into the storyline, featuring Daivas Panjurli and Guliga as protectors of the forest's inhabitants. This mystical element was further elevated by the enchanting music composed by Ajaneesh Lokanath. One particular moment that left a spiritual imprint was the final scene, where Rishab Shetty assumed the role of the Daiva Narthaka, performing the kola to the backdrop of the soul-stirring "Varaha Roopam" song.

As the film marks its first anniversary, the production house, Hombale Films, is gearing up to release the full video of the song online. This decision is fueled by the song's transcendence from echoing in stadiums to becoming an integral part of festive traditions and morning rituals.Rishab Shetty also revealed exciting news about "Kantara 2" being in the works, suggesting that what audiences witnessed was just the beginning of this captivating story.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for "Kantara." After its release, the film's popular song became entangled in a protracted legal dispute with the Malayalam band Thaikkudam Bridge, who claimed that Ajaneesh had borrowed elements from their track "Navarasa" for "Varaha Roopam." The undeniable similarities between the two tracks led to a contentious battle over copyright. While Ajaneesh vehemently denied copying "Navarasa," he acknowledged being inspired by it. As a result, the OTT version of the film temporarily omitted the "Varaha Roopam" song, replacing it with an alternate version.
