Simbu argues against returning advance. Actor Simbu, in a recent development, informed the Madras High Court that he should not be held responsible for returning the advance he had received from Vels Film International for his role in the movie "Corona Kumar."

This disclosure was presented before Justice Abdul Quddhose as part of a counter-affidavit, which also highlighted a crucial aspect that Vels Film International had concealed in the agreement. It stated that if, for any reason, the filming did not commence within the agreed-upon one-year timeframe, Simbu would not be obligated to refund the advance to the producer.

Vijayan Subramaniam, Simbu's legal representative, argued that Silambarasan should not be restricted from taking on new film projects and requested the lifting of the interim injunction previously imposed on him. Conversely, advocate M Santhanaraman, representing Vels Film International, contended that despite receiving the advance, Simbu had not fulfilled his commitments, despite numerous requests. He asserted that Simbu was now attempting to exploit his own default by claiming that he was not liable to return the advance because the movie was not filmed within the stipulated one-year period.

It's worth noting that the producers' council had already issued a red card to Simbu based on a complaint from someone else. After listening to both sides, the judge instructed Vels Film International to provide a response to the counter-affidavit by October 6th.
