More rains likely in Coast,T-region

Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts received heavy to very Heavy Rains following a low pressure area forming in the north-western Bay of Begal close to the Andhra Pradesh coast.

 The system is expected to cause Heavy Rains in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Telangana region in the next 48 hours, according to a bulletin issued by the Cyclone warning Centre at Visakhapatnam on Thursday.

 Several low-lying areas in Rajahmundry were inundated and life came to a standstill since Wednesday.

 The cyclonic impact is causing continuous widespread rains in several north coastal districts and the Agency areas of Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam for the past 48 hours. Several areas have also been marooned due to the rains. 

The flood waters have filled the Kovada reservoir to the brim following the downpour in West Godavari district. The officials, consequently, have already issued flood alert to the people residing in the low-lying areas.

 Road links between several villages in Jagannathapuram, Bhattiagudem (W Godavari) have been disrupted due to Heavy Rains. Godumavagu in Kothagudem in Khammam district is overflowing.

 A bridge in Ramavaram has been submerged in the floodwaters and has brought all roadlinks to a standstill.

 Heavy Rains also affected normal life in the State Capital since Wednesday. Several roads in the Twin Cities were marooned causing traffic jams and the flood waters  caused havoc and brought misery to the vehicle users.
