Slamming the state government for its failure to redress the problems of students, Bharatiya Janata Party state president G Kishan Reddy on Monday began an indefinite fast in support of Backward Classes Association president R Krishnaiaih.
Launching the fast at party head office near Nampally, he demanded repayment of fee to students belonging to BCs/SCs/STs pursuing studies in private engineering colleges.
He told mediamen he would continue the fast until the government clears the dues of fee reimbursement and release of scholarships to reserved category students.
Criticizing the state government for adopting an anti-student stance, he said the government should mend its ways and cooperation in solving the tangled issue by releasing grants to private professional colleges.
The Bjp members raised slogans against the government.Following his fast, the police made elaborate security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents.
