Curfew was relaxed for two hours on Saturday providing the much-needed relief to the riot-hit areas of Hyderabad. Calm prevailed in the localities with no incidents of violence being reported from any quarter.
Hundreds of men and women came out of their homes in eight police station areas as curfew was relaxed from 8 a.m to 10.00 a.m to help people buy essentials.
Crowds were seen in the markets to buy vegetables, milk and groceries. Long queues were also seen at the medical stores. People once again complained of exploitation by the traders such as jacking up the prices of essentials as the arrangements made by the authorities to supply vegetables proved inadequate.
No untoward incident was reported in the two-hour period of relaxation. The curfew in 17 police station areas of the Old City was relaxed for three hours from 10.a.m to 1.p.m.
`` The laxity of curfew period may be longer on Sunday. Lifting of curfew will take some more time," said Police Commissioner AK Khan on Saturday.
