Violence spreads to Musheerabad

Communal  violence broke out  in  new areas of Hyderabad afresh on Tuesday.  Fourten persons including two police personnel were injred during the clashes.

 The communal  riots  which  spread from the Old City  to Musheereabad  region were however quelled by  the  timely intervention of the police personnel who reached  the spot and dispersed  the  mob.

 The situation in riot-hit Old City on Tuesday remained peaceful even as the indefinite curfew imposed on Monday night continued, police said.

 Tension prevailed in Musheerabad and Basheerbagh areas outside the curfew-bound old city after a clash between two groups. Many people were injured when a group allegedly pelted stones on a religious procession.

About 100 vehicles were burned and dozens  of people suffered injuries.

 The Centre has rushed 1,800 paramilitary personnel to restore peace in the sensitive areas. The entire force has been put on alert to maintain law and order in view of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on Tuesday.  

 The curfew has been extended till 6 P.M in the day. About 130 persons, suspected to be involved in the communal clashes, have been taken into custody so far, police commissioner AK Khan said.

 No untoward incident was reported since Monday night from any of the 17 police stations in south zone, where indefinite curfew was imposed following communal violence for the fourth consecutive day.  

 The violence, which broke out on Saturday in Moosabowli area of Hussaini Alam over a dispute on putting up of religious flags, has so far left one person dead and over 80 injured while several places of worship were attacked and vehicles torched.
