Chief Minister K Chandrasheker Rao announced that Hyderabad would be a slum free city.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for construction of 396 houses at IDH and four adjacent colonies at Bhoiguda in Secunderabad on Friday, the Chief Minister announced that people living in slums would be given 2-Bed Room flats. He said Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Rao briefed him about the dilapidated conditions of the houses in IDH colony and therefore, a decision was taken to demolish the existing structures and begin construction of new houses on war footing basis.
KCR said that IDH colony would be a model colony with each flat of 520 Sqft costing around Rs 7.90 lakh. Describing the move as of its one of its kind, he promised that such type of houses would be constructed in all the identified slums to make Hyderabad a slum free city. He informed that he would convey a meeting with the all the elected representatives within 10 days to take collective decision for constructions of houses in the identified slums. Further, he requested the Central Government to join hands with the State Government to take up joint housing schemes.
On Talasani’s request, the Chief Minister inspected another slum situated at Sanjeevaiah Park near Necklace Road.
Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav presided over the function. Excise Minister T Padma Rao, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumanth Rao, Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya and other leaders and senior officials participated in the event.
The Chief Minister has also inaugurated the link road between Begumpet and Balkampet.
