Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly and Ysr Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a blistering attack on the TDP government's maiden budget. He called it 'disappointing.'
Earlier Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu presented a Rs 1,11,824-crore budget for the financial year 2014-15 in the Assembly.
"Slamming the TDP government's maiden budget, the YSRCP said that it has let down people's dreams. It had failed everybody's expectations and all the sections of people were deeply disappointed. It left all those hoping for relief in the lurch. After the bifurcation, Chandrababu has consistently assured the people that waiver of all agriculture and DWCRA loans would be done immediately. But the issue was left untouched in the budget, Jagan said. The budget made no attempt to pull out the farmers and DWCRA women from the morass," Jagan said.
Jagan said there was nothing new in the budget and housing sector has been completely ignored by the TDP government, Jagan pointed out. During the YSR's rule, the housing sector had got Rs 7,000 crore to 8,000 crore every year. This time only Rs 800 crores have been allocated. The budget has failed to mention about the capital and its allocation, he added.
Pointing out that non-planned expenditure was three times more than planned expenditure and the capital expenditure too has come down. Due to this, the GDP would be affected, he pointed out.
