Calling the recently introduced Amma Hastam scheme by Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress Government as Maya Hastam, Ysr Congress honourary president YS Vijayamma alleged Government has totally neglected the public welfare and kept aside the welfare schemes.
Addressing a big gathering of people at Addagutta in Secunderabad after participating in a Rachchabanda programme and listening to a string of complaints from the locals, mostly women and the aged on Wednesday, she said the Government is not aware of the suffering of the people.
As a leader, Dr. Ysr knew the suffering of the people and introduced several welfare schemes to mitigate their suffering. “He not only introduced the welfare schemes but also implemented them successfully as he was sincere,” she observed.
The present Government, unconcerned about the people’s problems, has been imposing new charges and hiking all sorts of taxes to fill its coffers while neglecting the people’s welfare, she said.
Vijayamma said the Amma Hastam scheme is only a Maya Hastam as the Government introduced it aiming at votes in the next elections. “The Government is not sincere in its approach and hence people have already started complaining about it.”
“We are feeling the void created by the death of Dr Ysr as no one is there to listen to our woes and address our grievances,” the locals complained to Vijayamma.
They told her life has become difficult for them with inflated power bills and hiked prices of essential commodities. While some people told her they were not getting pensions, some others complained bankers are collecting Rs.30,000 interest on a loan of Rs. 1 lakh though the loans are sanctioned under the 25 paisa interest scheme.
Vijayamma assured them that YsrCP would address all their problems on a priority basis after coming to power. Party leaders Sobha Nagi Reddy, Srisailam and Vijaya Reddy also participated in the Rachchabanda.
