Former union minister and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress party of cheating the people of Telangana over the statehood issue.
Talking to reporters at the State BJP Headquarters at Nampally here, Vidyasagar Rao said that by giving additional five berths in the Union Cabinet, the Congress-led UPA Government has silenced the Congress MPs on the Telangana issue. However, he said some Congress leaders were still making statements on the issue at the behest of Congress High Command. Alleging that the Congress leaders were enacting a scripted drama over Telangana, he said the party has been cheating and misleading the people over Telangana.
Vidyasagar Rao alleged that the Centre was not in favour of Telangana and it became evident from the recent expansion of Union Cabinet. He said that the Centre was ignoring the fact that nearly 900 people committed suicide for the cause of statehood.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader praised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy by describing him as non-corrupt. He said unlike other Congress Chief Ministers, Kiran Kumar Reddy was clean. However, he said he was unable to perform his duties efficiently due to the groupism within the Congress party.
