The CBI Court at Nampally on Friday dismissed the bail petition of YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was arrested by the CBI in connection with disproportionate assets case.
After hearing the lengthy arguments for more than eight hours, Principal Special Judge Justice A Pullaiah conceded the CBI arguments that Jagan might tamper with the evidence and influence the witnesses if he was released on bail. He also observed that it was no possible to give bail to him when the CBI petition seeking his custody for 10 days was pending in the State High Court.
The CBI counsel said that the investigation has reached its peak and his bail at this stage would hamper the probe. The probing agency also claimed that it was not resorting to political vendetta on Jagan.
Earlier, Jagan’s counsel argued that his client has to campaign in the ensuing by-elections as the YSR Congress party president and appealed to court to grant him bail.
The special court also reserved its decision on CBI petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to financial advisor of Jagathi publications Vijay Sai Reddy.
Meanwhile, the High Court has reserved the judgment on the custody petition of Jaganmohan Reddy. The court has heard the arguments and counter-arguments on Friday and reserved the judgment for 12 noon on Saturday.
