Congress Party spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy on Monday rubbished the charges of YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma suspecting Congress president Sonia Gandhi's involvement behind the arrest of Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy by the CBI.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Tulasi Reddy said that the Congress Party and government were not connected to the arrest of Jagan in the disproportionate assets case. He said that YSR Congress leaders were leveling baseless charges against the Congress Party to get mileage in the ensuing by-elections. However, he said that the people would not believe Jagan and vote in favour of Congress Party seeing its performance and welfare programmes. He suggested that Jagan prove his innocence in a court of law and come out clean from the CBI charges.
Tulasi Reddy came down heavily on Y S Vijayamma for politicizing the death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to gain sympathy and mileage. Stating that four committees probed the helicopter mishap of YSR, he said that the committees attributed the mishap to unfavourable weather conditions.
