Tirupati MLA K Chiranjeevi on Friday stated that he has not received any official communication from the Congress high command over his elevation as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Responding to media reports that he might be nominated for the Rajya Sabha seat and would be given a berth in the union ministry, Chiranjeevi said that he would oblige the high command orders. “I have not received any communication from the high command about this," he said while talking to reporters in assembly lobby.
When the reporters asked Chiranjeevi about who will contest from Tirupati in the event of his election to Rajya Sabha, he did not give a direct reply. However, he said he never thought about fielding his wife Surekha or his brother Naga Babu from the seat. “I will consider their names at an appropriate time,” he said.
Stating that he never aspired for the Chief Minister’s post anytime, Chiranjeevi said that he came to politics to serve the people. He said that he would campaign for the by-elections if the high command asks him to do so.
