Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday appealed to all elected representatives and the general public to boycott the AP State Formation Day celebrations on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Kodandaram said that the Formation Day would be observed as 'Black Day' across the Telangana region. He appealed the people to hoist black flags on their homes and agitate peacefully. He specifically urged the ministers from the Telangana region to boycott the official celebrations to respect the sentiments of the people in the region.
Kodandaram also announced that the TP-JAC would also boycott the second round of Rachabanda programme scheduled to start from November 2. He asked the Telangana minister and all elected representatives in the region not to participate in the Rachabanda programme. He said massive boycott would send a strong signal to both the State and Central Governments and mount pressure on them to take a favourable decision on the Telangana statehood issue.
The JAC chairman accused the Congress party of intentionally delaying the decision on the Telangana issue. He said that the party lacks clarity on the issue and have been trying to sabotage the entire agitation. He asked all the Congress MLAs to quit the party for the sake of Telangana.
