Union Minister of State for Handlooms and Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi on Thursday stated that the Telangana agitation has become a major obstacle in the development of the State.
Talking to media persons, Panabaka said that due to statehood agitation the State has missed several investment proposals. Many entrepreneurs are planning to relocate their projects, while several companies have shelved their expansion plans. Due to agitations and protests, she said that the investors and entrepreneurs were going out of state in search of green pastures.
The Union Minister alleged that the Telangana agitation has been launched by some vested elements to meet their selfish and political interests. She claimed that the state government was making sincere efforts to stop the general strike of Telangana employees.
Panabaka admitted that the power generation in the state was affected due to participation of Singareni Collieries Company Limited employees in strike. She said that the power generation in other states was also affected due to employees stopping mining operations.
