Telangana Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao on Wednesday stated that the credit for Dec 9, 2009 statement by Home Minister P Chidambaram on Telangana must go to Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking at a dharna organized by Telangana journalists at Indira Park to express solidarity with Telangana employees’ general strike, Kesava Rao said that the Telangana Congress leaders were ready to submit their resignations at any time for the cause of separate statehood. Stating no one could obstruct formation of Telangana state, he asked the leaders to stop making confusing statements on the issue.
TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that the formation of T state was more important for employees than their September month salaries. He also condemned a section of media for creating wrong impression about the general strike by stating that it was causing inconvenience to general public and loss to the state’s exchequer. He criticized Telangana Congress and TDP Forum members for backtracking on submitting resignations afresh from their posts.
Earlier, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram expressed solidarity to journalists’ agitation. He called upon the employees to picket national highways on September 18 as part of intensifying agitation. He also asked the Telangana Congress leaders to mount pressure on the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh towards achieving Telangana state.
