Impossible to achieve unanimity on T: Errabelli

A day after Union Home Minister P Chidambaram sought unanimity and cooperation of all political parties in solving the controversial statehood issue, Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday stated that it was impossible to achieve unanimity on the Telangana state issue.

Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, Mr Dayakar Rao said that, “it is very difficult to achieve consensus on the issue. The only possible solution before the Centre is to invoke Article 3 of the Constitution and solve the issue.”

Stating that the TDP has already made its stand clear on Telangana state issue before the Justice Srikrishna Commission and Pranab Mukherjee Committee, Mr Dayakar Rao asked Mr Chidambaram to take a decision on the issue instead of resorting to delaying tactics and blaming the TDP for the imbroglio.

“We want a clear statement from the Centre on the Telangana state issue. The Centre must clearly say whether it is in favour of Telangana or not,” he stated.

The TDP leader added that the Congress party had never mentioned that it was necessary to pass a resolution on Telangana in the House for the formation of state before it entered into an alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and agreed to the separate statehood demand by including it in its election manifesto.

Stating the TDP never objected to the formation of separate Telangana state, Mr Dayakar Rao asserted that the TDP would seek the support of all parties by keeping aside its flag and agenda.

“Despite the party introducing a resolution in the House for the deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders of 1975 and seeking the dropping of police cases against students, why has the government not taken any decision on this issue yet,” Mr Dayakar Rao wondered.

He advised the Telangana Congress leaders not to fall in the trap of Congress In-Charge of State Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad and submit their resignations afresh.

Party leader Mahender Reddy was also present at the press conference.tant roles in this movie.
