Suspended Telugu Desam Party leader from the Telangana region Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday demanded the state government arrest senior his party colleague Payyavula Keshav for threatening to form suicide squads in the event of the Centre taking a favourable decision on Telangana.
Mr Keshav had told the gathering that suicide squads would be formed who would attack all those who backed the bifurcation decision, during a meeting held in Guntur. Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Janardhan Reddy appealed to the state government to immediately arrest Mr Keshav for making such irresponsible statements and provoking the people of the region.
He also demanded that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu explain his stand on the ‘threat’ of suicide squads made by Mr Keshav and demanded that the party chief take serious action against the Seemandhra leader for making such provocative statements against Telangana people.
Responding to TDP Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao’s statement that Mr Chandrababu Naidu would give his letter within half an hour of Congress president Sonia Gandhi giving a similar letter, clarifying that she has no objection for forming the Telangana state, Mr Janardhan Reddy wondered if the TDP was part of Congress since Mr Dayakar was making such statements.
“If it is part of the Congress, then Mr Naidu can merge the TDP in the Congress,” he stated. Mr Janardhan Reddy also demanded the TDP Forum members to push for getting their resignations accepted within the next 48 hours to prove their commitment towards Telangana state. “Otherwise the Telangana people would not believe TDP leaders,” he stated.
