Responding to Telangana Telugu Desam Party Forum leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy’s call for support to his ‘Telangana Sadhana Yatra’, Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor leader Etela Rajender on Saturday said that his party would support any attempt to bring the disparate pro-Telangana groups under one umbrella only if the senior TDP leader resigns from his party and works for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The TRS, which projects itself as the only champion of the separate statehood demand, said that Mr Janardhan Reddy should first resign from the TDP as the party has not made its stand on the pro-Telangana demand clear. “Only after resigning from the TDP, should Mr Janardhan Reddy fight for the achievement of a separate state. As long as he remains in the TDP, there will always be doubt that he would succumb to his party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s persuasive powers and go back on his resolve of fighting for Telangana,” Mr Rajendra told media persons at Assembly Media Point. The TRS leader added that his party TRS will support Mr Janardhan Reddy only after he ‘divorces’ the TDP. “The people have lost faith in the Telugu Desam Party and if he fights for a separate statehood while remaining in that party, we will not believe his words. This will be the case even if he promises not to follow the TDP’s manifesto,” Mr Rajendra said. “Mr Janardhan Reddy’s Sadhana Yatra at Nagarkurnool on Monday will find few takers, particularly from the TRS, since doubts about his commitment towards the Telangana remain, the TRS leader predicted.
