Pay tripled for MLAs, MLCs

The state Assembly on Tuesday gave the nod for tripling the salaries and allowances to the MLA and MLC.

The MLAs and MLCs will now get Rs 12,000 as their monthly salaries and another Rs 83,000 as constituency allowance. Apart from this, the Legislators will also get railway coupons worth Rs 70,000.

If that is not all, they would also get a laptop, a modern printer, scanner, a Samsung Galaxy phone and an Ipad. The MLAs and MLCs will get special gift vouchers from the APIIC, RTC, Housing Board, Tribal Welfare.

Former legislators who have served a single will get a pension of Rs 15ooo monthly, while two-term Legislators will get Rs 20,000 and a three-time Legislator would draw a pension of Rs 25,000.

This massive increment in the salaries and allowances of both the sitting Members is from the present Rs 38,600 per month, including allowances.
