The Ruling Congress on Tuesday attempted to pin the blame for the frequent adjournments and almost total lack of listed business in the Assembly on the Telugu Desam Party, with Government Chief Whip Batti Vikramarka blaming Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu for not allowing the House to function normally.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party Office, Mr Vikramarka alleged that Mr Naidu and his party Members were not allowing the House to transact any business, or let any discussions to address people’s problems take place. He also alleged that the TDP was wasting precious time and money spent for the conducting of the House proceedings.
“The TDP Members are coming to the House only with an intention of stalling it and forcing Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to adjourn proceedings without transacting any business. This action is also not allowing any discussions on the people’s issues,” he stated.
Expressing his concern over the nonfunctioning of the House, Mr Vikramarka advised Mr Naidu to stop his ‘stalling tactics’ and help the Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to conduct the business properly.
“The House has to discuss issues concerned to people. If the Opposition Leader does not act in a responsible and constructive manner, how can the government reply to issues concerned to people,” he questioned.
“Without hearing the government’s reply to points raised, the TDP members are resorting to boycotts and stalling the House by raising slogans,” Mr Vikramarka pointed out. He said the Opposition should respond after hearing the reply of state government.
Minister for Law and Courts Erasu Prathap Reddy also flayed Mr Naidu and alleged that the former chief minister was not acting responsibly in the House.
