Minister for Social Welfare Pithani Satyanarayana on Tuesday stated that the government will clear all dues of tuition fee to private college management by July 15.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Satyanarayana said the government was committed to implement the Supreme Court orders on reimbursement of fee to colleges and clear dues and would do so by July 15.

The Minister appealed to college managements to withdraw their decision of closing the colleges as the government had agreed to pay their dues.

Earlier, the college managements threatened to close their colleges by February 24 if the government failed clear their tuition fee dues.

“There is no cause to worry for students and parents on the fee issue. The students should concentrate on their studies,” Mr Satyanarayana stated. He said the government had issued a GO releasing Rs 1,000 crore to colleges already and remaining dues would be cleared in a phased manner as directed by the Apex Court.

The Minister also called on former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to withdraw his hunger fast on fee reimbursement considering his deteriorating health condition. Mr Satyanarayana assured that the government was committed to implement former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s welfare schemes at any cost, ‘in letter and spirit.’

Minorities Welfare Minister Syed Ahmadullah and Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju were also present.
