KCR sets deadline to withdraw cases

Expressing solidarity to Telangana Congress Mps’ hunger strike, which entered its second day at New MLA Quarters on Tuesday, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao warned the state government that the leaders from the region would paralyze the administration if the it does not come out with a concrete decision on lifting of cases against students by evening.

The Congress MPs had on Monday launched their indefinite hunger strike to press the state government into lifting of all police cases against students and agitators who had participated in the separate statehood agitations.

After enquiring about the health condition of the Congress MPs, the TRS chief addressed media persons where he questioned the rationale behind foisting cases against students and demanded immediate withdrawal of all cases unconditionally. He set a deadline of Tuesday evening for the withdrawal of the cases.

KCR warned that the government that it would be held responsible for any serious consequences that may arise if anything happens to the health of Congress MPs and warned of serious agitation from Wednesday.

The TRS chief said that, since Independence, injustice was done to the Telangana people in various sectors by the successive governments. He also blamed the earlier governments of having violated the Gentlemen’s Agreement.

KCR appealed the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to stand by the announcement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram over the process of formation of Telangana on December 9, 2009. He also demanded that they fulfill the aspirations of Telangana people by announcing a separate state.

Asking the Prime Minister the rationale behind sending 18 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces to state, KCR urged Dr Manmohan Singh to withdraw the forces immediately as their deployment would cause law and order problem in the state.

Reacting on the reported statement of media that Congress MPs had violated High Command by observing fast, KCR asked what the High Command did when they extended solidarity to former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy during his Odarpu Yatra.

He said that 4 crore Telanganaites were behind the separate statehood agitation and they would elect those leaders who would resign for the cause with thumping majority.

Congress Working Committee member and MP K Keshava Rao called upon all leaders from the region to unite and fight for a separate Telangana. He said that they should rise above political differences and look at the issue beyond their personal ambitions.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress MLAs, expressing solidarity to MPs, decided to sit-in for fast on Wednesday.
