I will not allow lobbying, shed favouritism: CM to Babus
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday issued a clear directive to the top officers to shed 'favouritism'.
He said that cooperation and coordination was compulsory for effective implementation of the government sponsored programmes.
Addressing the District Collectors, Superintendents of Police and Forest Officers at Lake View Guest House, the Chief Minister called upon them to work with dedication and monitor the implementation of schemes properly to plug leakages.
He said the performance would be the only criteria in his administration while giving promotions and transfers for the officials. The Chief Minister specifically stated that there should not be any lobbying and favouritism among them to ensure good governance. “I will not allow lobbying for posts”, he pointed out.
KKR also maintained that the officers played a key role in the implementation of the programmes as they were the ones who moved closer to the people. Therefore, it was incumbent on the part of the bureaucrats to show their performance skills for targeting the beneficiaries of the schemes for maximum reach and to achieve desired results. "Your disposal is a benchmark," he said.
The Chief Minister also issued a veiled warning that top officers should not entertain any favouritism. This factor will give scope for diluting the government schemes resulting in the unrest, KKR pointed out and told the officers to evolve new systems for foolproof implementation.
Stating that the IAS cadres were experienced and well informed particularly in the given situation, he expressed confidence that they would take this 'call' in right perspective and proceed in the direction of overall success. "I am positive about this," he said.
In an apparent reference that a Minister or a Chief Minister has to seek the people's mandate for every term, he maintained that the officers were there till retirement. "I will write the exam after 5 years,” the Chief Minister said.
KKR’s words are seen as a clear signal to the IAS cadres that the party manifesto or the party schemes should be implemented to the advantage of the beneficiaries. Otherwise the voters would not give their mandate in favour of the ruling party.
The Chief Minister also spoke of a positive approach that they or he should take in terms of implementation of all the developmental programmes.
"I seek your guidance in this respect," he said and added that he was hopeful about it. The Chief Minister urged them to do their part in a perfect coordination and in an appreciable manner as the state was passing through a critical phase.
KKR also directed the police officials to take serious action on those who cause disturbance to law and order. He asked the officials not to compromise on the law and order situation at anytime and advised them to deal with anti-social elements strictly.
