The Home Minister had earlier met Chief Minister K Rosaiah and discussed the situation, especially the protests by Seemandhra students over the indefinite postponement of the recruitment tests.

Ms Indra Reddy also held discussions with all the Ministers from Seemandhra regions who were present at the Secretariat. The meeting was held in the Chambers of Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao.

The state government had on Friday buckled under the pressure brought by students of the Osmania University and postponed the recruitment tests, originally scheduled for December 18 and 19, indefinitely.

The Osmania University students were supported by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the opposition to the conducting of the tests.

The students had demanded that the tests should be carried out only after Clause 14 (F) is deleted from the Presidential order.

The government’s decision had led to students from Seemandhra regions to resort to protests. The students had resorted to staging Rasta Rokos, Rail Rokos and also burning effigies of the state government.
