The Supreme Court on Friday refused to give permission to Obulapuram Mining Company, owned by the Gali Brothers to export iron ore extracted from the area leased to it in Andhra Pradesh.
Disposing off a petition filed by OMC, a Bench headed by the Chief Justice SH Kapadia, refused to grant permission to the company to dispatch and transport minerals, mainly iron ore, extracted from the area leased to it.
The Bench also directed the state government to cancel the mining permits of the company if it violated laws and resorted to mining for ore in reserved forest areas. The Bench also directed the government and the Company to submit their objections in this regard to court within 10 days.
Earlier, the bench transferred the case to the Forest Bench after a brief hearing.
The Obulapuram Mining Company had filed a special leave petition against the July 2 order of AP High Court refusing to grant permission to the company to export iron ore extracted from the area leased to it.
